ReillyBrogan I figured I'd put together a quick image tutorial on using DeepFilterNet through Easy Effects. We tested this out in some of the Solus team calls and it seems to sound much better than using NoiseTorch (which uses the RNNoise algorithm). Audio quality seems more comparable to RTX Voice on Windows or Krisp (used by Discord). Note that this will only work if you are using PipeWire as the audio server, which should be the default on Solus. If you've never changed the audio server back to Pulseaudio chance are you're using PipeWire and can continue to the rest of this guide. Install Easy Effects Install it! Open it! Click on the "Input" icon in the header bar. Click on the "Effects" button on the bottom Click on "Add Effect" and then scroll until you can click "Deep Noise Remover" Adjust the "Attenuation Limit" until you find a sweet spot where you can hear minimal or no background noise but your voice is still clear. This will likely be a different value for everyone, but for me personally the sweet spot was 70dB The button in the bottom right corner allows you to hear the processed audio from your microphone. You can use this to help determine when you've hit the sweet spot. You shouldn't really need to mess with any of the other settings besides those ones. You may need to start Easy Effects when you want to enable these filters, I'm not really sure how Easy Effects works (perhaps @silke can chime in there).
silke You may need to start Easy Effects when you want to enable these filters You can set EasyEffects to automatically start in the settings and it should automatically start on login. Alternatively, it keeps running in the background after being opened once. That can also be disabled in the settings if you only want it to be active with the window open.
